  1. Transport Month every year focuses the attention of the public on different Transport initiatives to enhance road safety and contribute towards economic growth and development.

One of the areas that have received direct attention from the Government and the Department of Transport is the need for an effective public transport system. The Minister of Transport, Minister Radebe has stated that public transport and not a commuter transport system is what South Africa requires as the country moves towards an age of sustained growth and accelerated development. This will enable all South Africans, including the unemployed and poor, to enjoy greater access to economic and employment opportunities as well as social recreation.

Traffic congestion and gridlock had accompanied rapid economic growth and the development of the motor manufacturing industry. Road infrastructure has come under immense pressure due to competition for road space from industrial, public and private road users. Access to economic opportunities is adversely affected by traffic congestion, as business activities move from inner cities to the outskirts, further increasing the cost of fuel and transportation for all South Africans.

The vision of the Department of Transport is a public transport system that provides certain minimum levels of service in the urban and rural context thereby enabling South Africans to enjoy greater mobility.

The transformation of public transport requires consistent inter-government cooperation and coordination. This is a daunting task and will require the setting of clear public transport indicators such as reduced travel times, reduced costs, to reduce the percentage of household income spent on transport and the determination by the relevant transport authorities of the nature and size of vehicles to be used, including regular renewal of the public transport fleet and access to transport.

This section will provide an overview on the difficulties facing public transport as well as innovative ways in which these difficulties are addressed.

  2. The decisions that national leaders, local officials, developers, and planners make today will determine how billions of urban cities will live over the next century. Already, half the global population resides in cities. That figure is set to increase to 70 percent by 2050.

Traditional models of city development can lock us into congestion, sprawl, and inefficient resource use. However, compact, connected, and efficient growth can help ensure more competitive cities, and provide a better quality of life for citizens.

WRI aims to ensure that cities drive economic opportunity while sustaining natural resources and improving quality of life. Through our WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, we use technical expertise, cutting-edge research, and on-the-ground partnerships to design solutions that enable sustainable city growth.

Our analysis and tools allow cities to effectively manage their natural resources and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions while improving quality of life. Working across our network, we develop and support the implementation of research-based solutions in sustainable mobility, urban form, as well as urban efficiency & climate that reduce pollution, improve health, and create safe, accessible public spaces for all people to thrive.

We collaborate with local and national decision-makers in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and Turkey to implement projects that overcome the challenges of urbanization and make for greater cities. And we partner with businesses, governments, and civil society to scale our successful pilot projects globally.

  3. In the past, people used to eat healthy and freshly food prepared at home. However, Today, eating habits have completely changed. People now eat less healthy food, which is fast food such as, cheeseburgers. However, eating fast or junk food is caused by many reasons. This essay will also outline the serious effects of eating healthy food.

Lifestyle is one of the most effective reasons of eating junk food. Many people work for a really long time. They don’t have time to prepare their food. For example, usually people have one-hour break for lunch when they’re working. Therefore, if someone works from 8am to 4 pm a daily and only have one-hour break, He is absolutely not going to go home and prepare his own food.As a result, he/she will go to the nearest restaurant to eat fast food and go back to work, and that will affect her because she will get used to do this, so she will never eat something prepared at home at lunch breaks.

  4. I will talk junk food

Junk food is a pejorative term for cheap food containing high levels of calories from sugar or fat with little fiber, protein, vitamins or minerals. Junk food can also refer to high protein food like meat prepared with saturated fat which some believe may be unhealthy, although some studies have shown no correlation between saturated fat and cardiovascular diseases. Many hamburger outlets, fried chicken outlets and the like supply food considered as junk food.

Despite being labeled as "junk", such foods usually do not pose any immediate health concerns and are generally safe when integrated into a well balanced diet. However, concerns about the negative health effects resulting from the consumption of a junk food heavy diet, especially obesity, have resulted in public health awareness campaigns, and restrictions on advertising and sale in several countries

  5. Fast food.
Nowadays there are a lot of different cousins, and it is also not a secret that everyone can order it sitting at home. I would like to discuss about the loveliest food of young generation - fast food. So let me start with the good characteristics of this food and further we will see it from all the sights. For the first it delicious and of course fast - you need not waste a time for cooking. Because of it a lot of people think, that it is a perfect way to give up cooking, but we must not forget, that fast food also can harm our health, dew to it high food concentrate which has a lot of harmful additions. As for me, I sometimes eat fast food, but I try to give up eating such products as Coca-cola, crisps and hamburgers. I would not deny and say such words, that I will never eat fast-food, because I am a student and I lead active life and unfortunately sometimes I just even have to eat it, because it helps me not to waste a lot of time and it is not so expensive. Of course, I think about the bad sides of fast-food, but what can I do if the forbidden things are delicious. There is no such thing as a "bad" food. All foods can fit into a healthy meal plan. It's true that fast food is usually high in fat, calories, cholesterol, and sodium, but eating fast food every once in a while is not going to cause you problems. If you eat too much fast food over a long period of time, though, it can lead to health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity.
To sum up all things which were given higher, I can only add that all people should make their own decisions and choose which of two ways they prefer the best: to eat fast-food or do not.
Remember: Try to balance fast food with other nutritious foods throughout the day and make healthier choices whenever possible. There are many healthy food choices that are easily available, tasty, and don't cost very much that can be eaten on the go.

Another cause of eating junk food is advertising. In fact, the fast food industry spent more than $4.2 billion dollars in 2009 on TV advertising and other media. Therefore, people like to try new food every day, so these advertisements help them a lot. For instance, if someone is watching TV, and saw a Dominos pizza advertisement that shows a new kind of pizza, he will just pick up the phone and order it. Because he saw an attractive advertisement with a cheap price, he chose this meal. Also, people now aren’t aware of what they eat. Some people eat every thing that looks delicious with a cheap price.

In conclusion, Eating junk food can have a significant impact on one's health. Though many people enjoy eating junk food and think it tastes great, the health consequences can be serious, and can range from everything to low energy levels to weight gain and illness. Also, eating junk food is its impact on energy levels. Many people skip breakfast or other meals throughout the day, and they choose quick snack or a soft drink. The junk food causes energy levels to spike, which people like, but then energy levels will quickly plummet, sending one back into the kitchen for another quick snack.

  11. Eating junk food

There are a number of reasons that led to an increase in the number of obese children; however, some solutions are possible to rectify the ever growing problem as will be explained below.
In recent years concerns have been arisen over the diet of younger children. On a day to day basis children are flooded with products containing significant quantities of sugar, preservatives and artificial additives. The intake of such foods and the subsequent behavior is becoming increasingly apparent. Moreover, as the nature of play has significantly changed; with outdoor activities replaced by screen-time indoors, more young people are forsaking traditional activities such as bike riding or simply running outside, for indoor activities such as computer games and television programs. Undeniably, poor diet and lack of daily exercise are the main causes of childhood obesity.
The effects of such behaviors can be disastrous. Obesity leads to a higher risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. As a result, these children will put a significant strain on hospitals and the rest of society in the future.
However, there are a number of possible solutions to this problem. Parents, teachers as well as government should be held responsible for the well-being of the younger generation. Parents should perhaps watch their children’s diet more closely and restrict the amount of time children spend in front of TV. Schools should encourage children to take regular exercise and put more of an emphasis on the quality of food served within school lunchrooms. Governments could also help decrease the number of obese children by limiting junk food advertisements.
To conclude, admittedly, obesity among young children is a growing problem; however, by engaging parents, schools and government in these issues, solutions are possible.

Junk food is food that is calorie-dense and nutrient poor. In recent decades, junk food, fast food and convenience food consumption in the United States have increased dramatically, with 25 percent of people now consuming predominantly junk food diets. This trend has occurred concurrently with rising epidemics of numerous chronic diseases and accounts for a long list of reasons why eating junk food is bad
